New England Studios

For several years now the film industry in Massachusetts has been on a steady growth trajectory developing every component necessary for a full service film environment contained within the state, except one: a state-of-the-art movie studio. With the construction of New England Studios, begun on June 26, 2012, that critical missing piece will now be filled.

Scheduled to open in Summer 2013, New England Studios will be a state-of-the-art, soundproof building providing four contiguous 18,000 square foot stages, which can be used individually or joined to total 72,000 square feet for feature film and television production. Funded by a team of New England based private equity investors, it will be a first of a kind in New England. It is designed by Bastien and Associates of Tustin, CA, one of the leading studio design firms in the world, who have worked in conjunction with local architects, Gavin and Sullivan of Lowell, MA. The Studios are being built and will be run by a seasoned team of experienced California/Hollywood film industry leaders/ and studio operators with a strong Massachusetts affiliation.

In addition to the 72,000 square feet of stages, the development will include 4,000 square feet of sound stage support space, a 30,000 square foot 3 story production support building with dressing rooms, a 20,000 square foot mill building to house production construction facilities, mechanical effects, grip and lighting and set storage and parking for 260 cars. In essence, it will be a full service film studio to rival any in the eastern United States.
